hay hay haaayy!
happy no-work monday. 🙂
i like to get descriptive, but i’m going to try my very best to do a quick weekend recap.
jordles and i took off for a couple nights of camping in thief river falls, minnesota.
it was a gooood time, for the most part.
i have a rant about calorie-counting and diets that’s been building in my head since we got there, and i’m considering unleashing it at the end of this post. we’ll see.
blondies for jordan’s birthday. these turned out so good! recipe coming when i feel like it. it’ll be soon, there’s only like 6 or 7 ingredients in these delicious things.
the cute bow and really mature wrapping paper i used for jordan’s giftie.
his card. i’m not sure if i’ve ever bought someone a card in my life, i love making them.
and his present! a cuisinart ice cream maker.

i’m also taking him bowling next friday, and i bought ingredients to make ice cream. he’s currently working on his chocolate-rolo-cheesecake masterpiece.
speaking of cheesecake, jordan’s mom (hi mama G!) sent this home with him on friday.
(its plain cheesecake, topped with her whipped topping, caramel, chocolate and nuts.)
omg. nobody makes cheesecake like mama G.
and she gave me her cheesecake recipe! i’ve never seen one like it.
i swore not to share it, but i consider myself blessed to have her in my life. she is an absolute goddess in the kitchen.
and to top it off, jordan and mama G took these pictures for me! haha.
i had to go to work, so jordan took my DSLR and she staged the pictures.
what a couple of sweethearts. 🙂
fill in some driving, camping, sitting by the fire, listening to middle-aged women complain about how fat they are, listening to bat-shit crazy women repeat themselves constantly and sing johnny cash, listening to an old-but-nice guy sing johnny cash really well, getting chastised for not being healthy, eating lots of junk food, and playing with everybody’s adorable puppies here.
i didn’t think it was worth taking pictures of.
well, the puppies were, but people also thought i was out of my tree when i busted out the DSLR, and i felt too uncomfortable to get any good shots.
i love having a beer or wine with dinner, or just when i feel like it, but it drives me crazy when co-campers think something’s wrong with me because i don’t have constantly have a drink in my hand.
thankfully i didn’t have to deal with that this weekend, because i think everyone may have been too drunk to notice i wasn’t drinking.
the people jordan’s parents hang out with are a little judgmental, and the women are pretty bitchy, in case you didn’t catch my drift.
ah well, moving on!
i stocked up on greek yogurt, which is VERY hard to attain in canada. looove!
i picked up two bottles of fish oil and a calcium supplement for just over 20 bucks!
fueled my WCW addiction.
some amazing crackers. omg, these are so good.
1/2 pretzel, 1/2 cracker.
they destroy the Ritz ones.
jordan’s birthday candy, buncha crunch and sour Dots. i loved the sour Dots.
i hear a lot of buzz about these Flat Outs, so i thought i would give them a shot.
arnold sandwich thins. i bought them last time i was in the states, and was pretty crazy about them.
that’s it for food shopping.
i made a couple decent purchases at JC Penney too, i was so happy.
i love having new clothes, but i hate spending money on anything so i don’t get them often.
today’s food and fitness:
i woke up nice and late, loved that it’s a holiday and i don’t have to go to work, rolled around and read blogs until i was hungry.
and eventually went tooooo..
what is THAT?
Amazing Grass wheat grass powder mixed with a cup of mango pineapple fruit juice.
honestly, the taste is something i could get past, but the texture and the little undissolved granules sticking to your teeth is something i may never get used to.
but i’ll still drink this lovely green-black stuff regularly.
after downing this concoction, i went for my first real run in a week.
it was ok. not great, not bad. not as good as this run, but way better than my last run.
i was kind of expecting it after not running for a week and a half. i went for 25 minutes, and took two short walking breaks.
i still have the problem of my ankles and legs getting tired WAY before my lungs and heart. after 10 minutes, my ankles were begging to stop, but i doubt my heart rate was above 150 bpm (it gets up to around 200 when i’m really working out.)
in an effort to strengthen my bottom half, when i got home i did
- 20 calf raises
- 10 lunges each leg
- a 40 second plank
- 20 push-ups
3 times through, instead of going right into stretching.
or just flopping on the couch.
i could definitely use some advice here. how can i catch up my lower body strength to my cardio strength?
well, i think that’s all for today.
i’ll save my rant about stupid “healthy” middle aged women with their calories, and my blondie recipe for another day.
