dipping, wonky runs, and being nice.

hay hay haaay!
huuuumpday. already.
and the start of my favourite month! 😀

i love summer and everything, but september is just perfect, weather-wise.
i also really enjoy the lack of children in the malls once september starts up.
and there are about 32 birthdays that to remember and celebrate this month. 😀
alright, that’s enough about how awesome september is.

Food & Fitness:

i didn’t want to wake up jordan with my obnoxiously loud waffle iron just for the sake of Waffle Wednesday, so i went with the next best thing. protein pancakes!

Except i forgot how to cook, and made them super weird.
So i just rolled them up like crepes and dunked them in chocolate milk instead of maple syrup.
It was goooood!


i would love to dunk my protein pancakes in chocolate pudding with hazelnuts.. mmmm..
why. why don’t i think of these things while i’m eating breakfast. ugh.

oh well. i also forgot to take pictures of the eats i took to work, so i’ll just tell you.

. gala apple and cheese
. a whole delicious can of tuna with various spices, green onion and a little mayo, and two wasa crackers

i haven’t done a whole lot this week as far as exercise goes. i shredded it up on monday and felt way too sore in the butt and groin to go for a run last night, so i just stretched.
so after 3 days of rest (from running), i braved the gross, rainy sky, ate a piece of toast for fuel and went out for a run.

it didn’t go too well. 😦
i’m doing my best not to beat myself up, but i had a really hard time today.
my legs were still sore, and it must have had some effect on my running.
i was going for 30 minutes, but my legs kept screaming (even though my lungs were just peachy) and i had to take a few walk breaks.

ahhh, well. can’t always have perfect runs.

for supper, jordan bbqed a burger and sliced potatoes, and steamed up lots of veggies for the side.
i did take a couple pictures, but they did nottt make the cut haha. it was delicious, if that helps your imagination.

after supper, jordan went to get a haircut and i went to get his birthday present! (!!!!)
i’m pretty excited about it. i’m afraid to say what it is because he creeps every now and again, and i would just die if he wasn’t surprised, but i will say that it’s awesome.
whatta cliffhanger.

the speed-shopping was stressful, and i always turn into a Nervous Nelly while driving in the rain, so i had a lovely bowl of chocolate chunk ice cream to calm my nerves when i got home. hitttt the spot.

random tidbit:

a couple days ago, one of my favourite food bloggers wrote something a little upsetting.

she said ‘some people are just not meant to be runners‘ and listed off various body parts, shapes and ailments that could turn you into ‘not a runner’.

“All your life, you are told the things you cannot do.
All your life they will tell you you’re not good enough or strong enough or talented enough.
They will say you’re the wrong height or the wrong weight or the wrong type to play this, do this or achieve that.
They will tell you no, a thousand times no, until all the nos become meaningless.
They will tell you no, quite firmly and very quickly.
And you will tell them yes.”

that’s all i have to say.
there’s actually a lot more than that, but my mama always said ‘if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.’

what is your favourite pancake/crepe dunking sauce? i think i’m going to experiment with the dunking possibilities, now that i’ve tried it.

    And I think she would support anyone going for their goals and working hard to achieve running if they love it.

      i wasn’t expecting much taste-wise, so i was pleasantly surprised.

      and you’re probably right, i think it’s just the way it was said that ruffled my feathers.
